MSI has introduced the Modern AM272, an all-in-one (AIO) PC that features a redesigned exterior compared to last year’s model, as well as the obligatory processor upgrade. As MSI’s marketing images show, the new Modern AM272 relies on a display with narrower bezels than last year’s model, albeit with a similar bottom chin. Meanwhile, MSI has included a built-in webcam this year that sits above the top bezel in a notch.
In comparison, the previous Modern AM272 featured a clip-on webcam that needed plugging in. For reference, the new Modern AM272 contains a 1080p camera with integrated IR. Hence, this year’s model is compatible with Windows Hello facial recognition, which should provide a seamless log-in experience. Additionally, the Modern AM272 has Tobii Aware software that can blur the display if you look or move away from the machine. Incidentally, MSI has included a webcam shutter to maximise privacy, when needed.
As its name suggests, the Modern AM272 series relies on a 27-inch display. Like previous models, the Modern AM272 utilises an IPS panel that operates at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 60 Hz. However, MSI has upgraded the AIO to the Intel Alder Lake platform. Specifically, the Modern AM272 comes with up to a Core i7-1260P, a 28 W processor that has four performance cores, eight efficiency cores and a 4.7 GHz peak clock speed. According to MSI, the AIO supports up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM too, plus M.2 and 2.5-inch storage.
Unfortunately, MSI has not confirmed pricing yet, nor when the Modern AM272 series will be available. The company plans to offer the AIO in AM272 12M and AM272P 12M variants though, which feature the following ports:
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
- 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1x HDMI in
- 1x HDMI out
- 1x RJ45 LAN
- 1x Mic-in/Headphone-out combo
- 1x Switchable 2.5-inch storage
- 5-Way Navigator
- 1x Kensington Lock
- 1x DC-in
