Lenovo updates the 16:10 IdeaPad S540-13 laptop with AMD Ryzen 4000 processors

Lenovo has quietly updated one of the most interesting consumer laptops made by the Chinese company in the last year: The Lenovo IdeaPad S540, which sports a screen in the rare 16:10 aspect ratio. The new version S540-13 are sports AMD Ryzen 4000. 

Lenovo chose a different approach with the Lenovo IdeaPad S540-13API. The first modern 16:10 laptops from Lenovo was launched was not a high-end laptop, but a modestly priced midrange device. And it was available with Intel and AMD CPUs.

This device was a potential flagship-killer. This years version might be even deadlier in this regard, as Lenovo has quietly updated the 13.3 inch laptop with AMD Ryzen 4000. The design and the rest of the specifications remain identical to the 2019 model, including the 16:10 IPS panel with a QHD (2.560 x 1.600) resolution. These laptops come with latest Zen 2 APUs and Lenovo has gone for the SMT enabled AMD Ryzen 5 4600U and the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U processors with 6 cores & 12 threads and 8 cores & 16 threads. The Ryzen 5 4600U processor features a 2.1 GHz base clock speed and 4.0 GHz boost clock, the Ryzen 7 4800U, on the other hand, comes with 1.8 GHz base clock speed and 4.2 GHz boost clock. These APUs come with strong AMD Radeon Graphics which helps in everyday computing and light to moderate gaming as well. It comes paired with up to 16GB soldered DDR4-3200 RAM and 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD storage.

For connectivity, the IdeaPad S540-13ARE features Wi-Fi 5, 11ax, 2×2 along with Bluetooth 5.0. The laptop houses a 56Wh battery which supports 65W USB Type-C charging and has a TPM 2.0 chip for security along with Windows 10 Home pre-installed.
