Punjab Association of Computer Traders was formed in 1991 when a group of leading entrepreneurs met at Jalandhar to take up grave situation arisen due to Microsoft raids on dealers. PACT was formed with Eleven presidents from leading Cities of Punjab and Chandigarh.
An MOU with Microsoft was successfully signed by PACT and that made for cordial and successful beginning. Then came the online price challenge that jeopardised existence of retailers in B&M sector. a statewide bandh was called by PACT against this and continued for 45 days. Many states across India also followed same.
A meeting at Delhi was called where FAIITA (Federation of All India Information Technology Association) was formed and matter was taken up on National level. Now that FAIITA has become a major force to reckon with at National level, it is no wonder PACT is called as its biggest Pillar. PACT, led by its Chairman Gurpreet Singh Sunny and Presidents from Chandigarh (Sanjeev Walia), then Jalandhar (Inder Mohan Bhasker 2018-20), Gurpreet Singh Jagdev, Ludhiana (2021-23), Vikas Narang, (Amritsar 2024) and now Prem Saini (Hoshiarpur) has ably resolved numerous big issues notably multi crore AOC bill to ship to dispute and AVITA CN Support with help of its National Presence and one voice pressure.
A family closely bonded, Numerous Tours, Blood Donation Camps and Cricket tournaments were held together to blend brotherhood with fun and enjoyment. PACT has critical space in FAIITA National Association, emphasised by fact that Sanjeev Walia is Gen Secretary of FAIITA now, Gurpreet Singh (Premier) is VP & GB Member and Devinder Mahendru is Convener (Events) PACT played critical role in National politics by conducting FAIITA Elections in 2022 in the sidelines of biggest ever B2B EXPO where 4 neighbouring states participated. Encouraged by that success, now PACT again is supporting ACE Ludhiana to conduct B2B & B2C IT INDIA EXPO on 22nd to 24 Aug where FAIITA AGM will also be held with National leaders presence at Ludhiana.
