Takes serious action against online offline rate disparity
Ludhiana – 21st October 2024: PACT (Punjab Association of Computer Traders) in an emergency called a meeting in which it decided to Barr (ban) buying laptop n desktops after receiving no spot response to their problem from the Vendors.
Dealers and members were protesting against the price discrepancy in offline and online since a long time now. PACT President Vikas Narang welcomed the members and Vendors for this emergency meeting.
Secretary Devinder Mehandru conducted the event. Senior Representatives from HP, Dell, Asus, Acer, Lenovo and representatives from National Distributors were also present at the meet. Many other Vendors also attended this meeting.
A ten-point memorandum was given to all Vendors and when they failed to provide any on the spot solution, the Chairman of PACT Gurpreet Singh Sunny announced barring of Purchase from all major vendors for the meantime till they come up with a solution on their ten points. All members present supported with a voice vote to BAN on buying for time being.
Due to price difference, there is a massive build-up of inventory with dealers as online eats it’s share riding on cash back offered by various banks on credit cards. The current online sales and online offers have jeopardized existence of B&M sector (off-line) stores and MBO’s.
The momentum has once again been sparked from Punjab. It is to be seen if and when other national associations decide to take this further and make it a national agenda.
